Things to see in Bodrum
The castle, the marina and day trips to the bays: plan what to see in Bodrum from a quieter base in Torba.
A list of things to see in Bodrum usually starts with the castle. Bodrum Castle and the Museum of Underwater Archaeology sit in the centre of the peninsula; a short visit is enough to look out from the walls over the harbour. The marina and the bazaar are on the same walk below.
After the castle many people go up toward the windmills and Bardakçı. The light softens near sunset; it can be busy for photographs, but the view is the familiar one. A lunch or a coffee in the centre keeps the return unhurried.
From Torba you reach Bodrum centre by dolmuş or a short drive. Spending the day in town and coming back to the neighbourhood in the late afternoon is an easy way to skip the busiest summer hours. From Lodos you can leave after breakfast and still be back for the evening table.
Other ends of the peninsula belong on the same list. Gümüşlük is known for sunset and walking paths; Türkbükü and Gölköy for the northern bays; Bitez for a more domestic beach. You don’t have to see them all in one day — using Torba as a base and taking two or three short routes feels calmer.
If you want the stay and the table on the same street, Lodos is at Torba, Dalli Street No:5. A ten-room boutique house; WhatsApp is enough for a reservation.
